Brewed for You and Shiny Glassware!

I haven't always been a beer lover.  It wasn't until I lived in Seattle that I found craft beers and now, my entire family enjoys sharing great craft beers.  So it was no surprise that Brewed for You was on the top of list when the new catalog was released.  The set is great - it comes with three different style beer glasses (with suds if you so desire) and a growler.  The coordinating dies cut them all out plus some hops.

As I started playing with this new bundle, I thought it would be fun to make the glassware shine.  So I have three different ways to add shine.  In my video, I demonstrate the techniques and then show how I used that piece in a card.  I will list the products below that I used to make the glassware, but I don't have the specifics on the three cards (as they are pretty easy to figure out).

The first technique for creating shine uses window sheets, which are a sturdy acetate.  You must use Stazon ink to stamp the glasses because it is permanent ink.  Be careful not to slide the image as you stamp on the slippery surface.  I did find that using the die to cut the acetate was a little challenging and I ended up using my snips to finish cutting the glasses out.  Belgium beers are my favorite styles and they tend to be more golden to cinnamon in color.  After cutting the beer out with the die, I lightly spread Multipurpose glue over the entire surface and added it to the back of the glass.  This adheres it without the glue showing through.

My second technique uses clear embossing powder.  I first stamped the growler image with Soft Suede ink on Soft Suede card stock.  Use the Versamark ink pad to cover the entire image with ink.  Add the clear embossing powder and set with the Heat Tool.  If you want a smoother finish for your growler, repeat the process and with each layer the texture will even out more and more. When cool, cut the growler out with the die.  A side note - the embossing does make the cardstock much darker.

My last technique uses a common household item - packing tape.  Simply stamp your image (here I used Memento Black and So Saffron to make my mugs), then cover then with packing tape before die cutting.  The only limitation is the width of your tape!

Lastly, I wanted to show you that these techniques can be used on other things than beer glassware.  Bottled Happiness has several bottles - I stamped them, added my packing tape, and fussy cut them out.  The hearts are from the Cheerful Basket Bundle - won't they look adorable in a wicker basket?  You can add shine to just about anything - sentiments, labels, backgrounds, shapes, etc.  Have fun!

Welcome to the Family! 2022-2024 In Colors

Every year, Stampin’ Up! Introduces a set of five colors to compliment our standard color families and to stay current with color trends.  I must say that I’m in love with our new batch!  All of them make me happy and I think you’ll love them too.

Before I make my card in my video, I show each of the five colors:  Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky.  All of these colors are available in ink pads/refills, cardstock, 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper, Glimmer Paper, Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Write Markers, Metallic Woven Ribbon, Baker’s Twine Pack, and Matte Decorative Dots.  I also show you some of our other colors, both current and retired, so you can compare the new colors and get a feel of just how unique they are.

Gather your supplies:

  • Cardstock:  Thick Basic White 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; Basic White 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"; 6" x6" 2022-2024 In Color DSP 4" x 5-1/4"; Vellum 3" x 3"
  • Stamp Bundle: Happiness Abounds
  • Dies:  Stylish Shapes
  • Ink:  Memento Black, Tahitian Tide
  • Adhesive and Tools

Start by folding your card base in half and burnishing the fold.  Set this aside and grab the quarter size piece of Basic White.  Using Memento Black ink, stamp the flowers and leaves as shown.  Using Stampin’ Blends, color the flowers and leaves with the new colors, and Daffodil Delight.  Stamp the sentiment in Tahitian Tide.

Cut out the flowers and leaves with the dies on the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.  Also cut a square (largest die) from Vellum and the sentiment using the Stylish Shapes Dies.

Now we are ready to assemble - start with the piece of Tahitian Tide DSP.  Position the velum and flowers on your card until you have an arrangement you’re happy with.  Once you like the arrangement, start adhering the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Tuck in the leaves with Glue Dots.  Add this floral decorated vellum to the hard front, hiding your adhesive under the flowers.  Lastly, add the sentiment strip with more Dimensionals below the flowers.

Our new Annual Catalog was just released on May 3rd and I am super excited about not only the new In Colors, but so many other products.  This would be a perfect time to do two things:  1) Join my team (during the month of May, there is a fabulous joining bonus where you can get the new In Colors as a bonus) and 2) Host a class, demonstration or catalog party so you can earn many of the new products for free!  Contact me and let me help you join, host or even just give you the new catalog!
