Little Treats - Perfect for Every Occassion

I'm not usually a treat box person, but this Little Treats bundle is fabulous and it is so easy to make treat boxes quickly!  The die cuts and scores your paper and all you have to do is fold it up and tie with a bow!  You don't even need adhesive to keep it together.

To make a box, you will need a half sheet of cardstock or a 6" square piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Cut out the box, fold along the score lines and place the tabs in the slots to complete the box.  In my video (watch it here: Little Treats - Perfect for Every Occassion ) I used the Snowflake Splendor DSP and the Snowflake Wishes stamp set to stamp my sentiment.  I filled by box with a Ghirardelli chocolate square and tied it closed with Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon.  You can use any treat you want - Hershey Nuggets or Kisses, fun sized candy bars, earrings, cash, candy corn, etc.

The Little Treats Bundle had plenty of images to decorate treat boxes for many occasions, but I challenge you to look at your stamp and die stash.  I bet you have plenty more that you could use to decorate these adorable boxes and use them year round.

You can also emboss, stamp on or stencil the box before you assemble it!  If you have something a little thicker for your treat (like Hershey Kisses), go ahead and place a band of paper or ribbon around the box for a little more support.  Let your imagination go - I've shown twelve more samples to get you started!

Falling Leaves - An Embossed Background Technique You'll Love!

Most of you have probably used embossing folders to add some amazing texture to your cards.  You've probably also used punches or dies, both as a focal element or as part of the background.  Here, I combine both methods to make a background that is colorful, textured and different!  Since Fall is upon us, grab your supplies and make this stunning card for someone you love.  Watch the video here:  Falling Leaves - An Embossed Background Technique You'll Love!

Gather your supplies:

  • Beautiful Autumn Bundle (stamps and punches)
  • Pumpkin Pie Card base: 4-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Whisper White: 3-3/4" x 5"
  • Soft Suede: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  • Scraps of Whisper White, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Crushed Curry
  • Ink Pads:  Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Crushed Curry
  • Painted Labels Dies
  • Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder
  • Faux Suede Trim
  • Cutting Tools
  • Adhesives
  • Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine

Punch out a variety of leaves and acorns and glue them down to the white layer, letting some of them hand off the edge.  When the entire panel is sprinkled with falling leaves (and acorns), trim any parts that extend over the edge.  Emboss this piece with the Dainty Diamonds folder.

Mat the embossed piece with the Soft Suede and adhere a piece of the Faux Suede trim about 1-1/2" - 2" up from the bottom (I like to use glue dots for adhering my ribbon, but Seal Plus works great too).  Using Dimensionals, adhere this panel to the card base, which has been folded in half and burnished with the bone folder to get a nice crease.

Stamp your greeting onto the label using Soft Suede ink.  Add four Dimensionals to the back of the label so that they are at the top and bottom and will straddle the trim.  Stamp two more leaves with matching ink to the paper and punch them out.  I chose two colors that weren't close to leaves in the background piece near the top right corner of my label.  Adhere these to the label and you're done!

One last tidbit - during the month of October, there is a sale on Designer Series Paper.  Plaid Tidings has some fabulous prints that would make beautiful leaves on this card instead of the solid colors.  You can get it (and many more) at a 15% discount.
