Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Card Pack for the Win!

If you aren't into scrapbooking, you may not have noticed the Memories & More card packs in our catalogs.  We've had them for a few years now and I find they are fabulous for making cards quickly and beautifully!  The Bright & Beautiful pack has been one of my favorites - I love the bright, happy colors, and overall theme (birthday/celebration).  The pack is very economical (only $8.50!) and is found on page 135 of the annual catalog.  There is also a coordinating pack of cards and envelopes, as well as a Suite with the same name, found on pages 14-15.  This suite has a stamp bundle and two packs of DSP (one is a 6" size and the other is specialty acetate).

The pack comes with 50 double sided cards in two sizes, 3" x 4" and 4" x 6", plus four sheets of heavy weight stickers.  I decided to make this video to show you how I used this pack of cards and stickers to make a wide variety of A2 cards.  I used cardstock in coordinating colors (as listed on the packaging) and a selection of stamp sets with sentiments.  Some of them are very simple, taking only a few minutes to make.  I also used the Beautiful Balloons Bundle for many of the cards.  A few of them will show how you can change up the cards quite a bit.  All in all, they are fun and still quick to make.

I had previously used a few of the cards before I made the video, but in the end, I have 38 cards to show!  My goal is to inspire you to get Memories & More card packs (and especially this one, which is only available until the end of April, 2023) to make fast and beautiful cards yourself.  I took pictures of the outsides only, but I do believe I showed what each one looks like in the video.  Here we go!

Well, I know that's a lot of photos - but really, that's the point!  I still have some stickers and a few smaller cards unused so I can make a few more cards.  I hope you've enjoyed this slightly different format for my videos and that you'll get these Memories & More cards before they are gone!

Loving the Latte Love Dies!

I am not a coffee drinker, but I sure do love this new bundle, especially the dies!  The Latte Love bundle is brand new and can be found in the Online Exclusive portion of my store.  To coordinate with this bundle is a gorgeous pack of paper (A Little Latte DSP), a ribbon (Polka Dot Trim) and some embellishments (Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots).

While I am using all of the products mentioned above in the video, I really wanted to focus on the dies.  There are 20 dies in this set and I think it's helpful to see how they all fit together - there is a coffee pot, two large mugs, a french press, and a two small mugs that can be assembled using the pieces cut from the dies.  Here is my chart that shows all the stamps and dies, along with the assembled pieces.

Before I tell you how to make the card in the video, I want to share a few helpful tips with these dies.  The first one is using the container of the french press to cut out a label.  As you can see in the video, the sentiment "you're the best part of my day" can be trimmed into a label using the die.  Start by stamping the sentiment and cutting it out with the die, placing the "bottom" of the die just to the right of your sentiment.  Then turn the die around and place it so the bottom is just to the left of the sentiment.  The die will align perfectly with the "sides" and when you cut again, you're left with a label that is just right!

The other tip uses the two ovals die (this one piece cuts out two small ovals for the small cups).  Take a strip of paper about 1" wide and mark it with a pencil every inch.  Then place the die at these marks and cut a series of double ovals.  I found it better to cut a longer strip of paper than what you need and trim after the ribbon is threaded.  Weave the Polka Dot Trim (or whatever ribbon (3/8" - 1/2" width is best) and adhere with a few glue dots.  Trim to your desired length and place on your card.

Gather your supplies:

  • Cardstock:  Lost Lagoon 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", 2-1/4" square; Basic White 2" x 4-1/4", 4" x 5-1/4"; Very Vanilla 1-3/4" square; A Little Latte DSP (3) 1-1/2" x 3-1/2"
  • Stamp Bundle:  Latte Love
  • Ink:  Lost Lagoon, Pecan Pie
  • Die:  Nested Essentials
  • Other:  Faceted Gems Trio
  • Adhesive and Tools
After folding the card base in half, adhere the three strips of coordinating DSP to the front.  Stamp the mug in Lost Lagoon ink on the same color paper, and the latte filling with Pecan Pie on the Very Vanilla paper.  Cut them out with the dies, as well as the second from the smallest Nested Essentials hexagon shape from the Basic White rectangle on the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine.  Stamp the sentiment on the right side of the label.  Pop up the label over the center of the DSP pieces and add the assembled cup (I used one more Dimensional near the handle and added glue on the far left side of the label).  Finish with a few gems.  For the envelope and inside panel, stamp with the splatter and coffee ring stamps in Pecan Pie.

Let's take a close look at the first tip I mentioned above.  For this card, I used Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to make two emboss resist panels - one for the front and one for the inside.  I stamped the rings and splatters in Versamark ink and then embossed with White embossing powder to create a background.  Then I used Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy and Pebbled Path inks (yes, that's right even though it looks more brown than gray in the finished card) to color the paper.  Thanks to my friend Kelly Acheson for this emboss resist color combo!  After the paper was dry, I adhered it to a Pecan Pie base.  Whenever I use watercolor paper, I always use a lot of adhesive (especially close to the edges) to stick it down as it tends to have some warping.  The french press is made from the Holographic Trip DSP, Window Sheets and Early Espresso cardstock.  I embossed the sentiment in white on Misty Moonlight and used the french press die to make the label.  I added the emboss resist strip on the inside, along with two more little mugs of coffee.  I just adore this card - don't you?

My next card features the ribbon weaving into the holes cut by the small double oval die.  I explained how to make the strip of holes above.  For this card, I matted the strip after doing the weaving onto a wider strip of Early Espresso.  The rest of the card is quite simple - a Stylish Shapes circle embossed with the Basics 3D embossing folder (I liked how the dots of the embossing folder mimic the dots of the ribbon), a sentiment stamped in Early Espresso and three Swirl Dots.  I stamped a coffee cup on the inside and a corner of coffee beans on the envelope in Pecan pie.

My next sample is features the assembled coffee pot (for all you decaf lovers!).  I used another piece of the A Little Latte DSP on a panel of Pecan Pie.  The coffee pot is cut from Vellum, while the coffee (for both the pot and the cup) is cut from Early Espresso and the handle from Calypso Coral.  The rest of the pieces were cut from Basic White and colored using Blending Brushes.  Again, I used some of the dots to accent the front.  For the inside, I used another piece of DSP (2" x 4") and cut a notch with one of my circle punches.  I fastened this to my Basic White panel along the left side, keeping the notched edge unglued so that a gift card could slide inside. What a nice way to give someone a Starbucks gift card!

My next sample was one of the first ones I made because the Rays of Light stamp set seemed like such a perfect pairing for morning joe!  I stamped the rays in Daffodil Delight and the cup is Sweet Sorbet.  I added two clusters of coffee beans colored with Blends.  My sentiment on the inside is made with The Love of Spring Dies and the Happy Little Things stamp set (two more online selections).

My last card is for tea lovers (which I am) because this set can be used for us too.  I wanted to do a rainbow of mugs, so I used Blending Brushes to color a strip of Basic White.  I chose Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape, Blueberry Bushel, Azure Afternoon, Coastal Cabana, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Sweet Sorbet.  After cutting my cups out (and adding tea made from Pecan Pie), I added them to the 1" strip of Basic White.  Because the tea bag is so thick, I doubled up the dimensionals on this white strip and placed them at both ends and under the yellow/green mug.  I cut out my sentiment with the Best Label punch and used white Baker's Twine to attach it to the tea bag.  I placed a few Mini Glue Dots under the tea bag to hold it in place.  My inside sentiment was from the In The Moment set (Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is Relax) and the envelope was decorated with the steam swirl in all the colors used to make the tea cups.

Lastly, I decorated a Square Pillow Box, which is super easy to assemble because the side panels have peal and stick adhesive.  I traced the shape of the curved top onto scrap paper to make a template to cut the DSP.  It was a little fussy to do, but I really like how it turned out (after lots of trimming and tweaking!).  I do recommend adding the DSP to the box after it is assembled due to the curvature.  I used the Faux Leather Trim to tie the box closed with a square knot.  Then, I stamped/cut the mug in Pecan Pie and bended it a little bit with my bone folder before popping it up on top.  The sentiment is added with more Dimensionals.  This makes such a cute presentation for a little gift - chocolates, earrings, cash, etc.  Unfortunately, it doesn't fit a gift card.

Can you see why I love these dies so much?  Actually, I love the whole bundle and I hope you do too!  Thanks so much for watching my video!
