Hey Girlfriend Flip Front Card

This is the perfect card to send to your bestie!  It has a unique front panel that flips up instead of the traditional card opening.  The card panel is decorated on the back so you can write an additional note, but I also have some other examples where you have a flip front panel on top of a normal card.  Here is my video - tell me which card you like the best!

Gather your supplies:

  • Cardstock:  Misty Moonlight 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"; Basic White 4" x 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" x 11"; Hydrangea Hill DSP 4" x 5-1/4" and 4" x 1/2"; Gorgeous Grape scrap; Highland Heather scrap
  • Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento and Highland Heather
  • Stamp set: Hey Girlfriend
  • Dies: Hippo & Friends, Pierced Blooms
  • Stampin' Blends: Ivory, Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Rococo Rose, Soft Suede, Highland Heather and Misty Moonlight
  • Window Sheets: 2-1/2" x 1/2" (or longer if you plan on making several cards), folded in half
  • Adhesive and Tools
Adhere your DSP to your card panel.  Add the small DSP strip to the bottom of the smaller white piece and adhere this to the back of the card.

From your large piece of white, cut out four of the largest octagon stitched labels.  Stamp the girlfriend of your choice on one of these labels.  Color her with Blends to coordinate with your DSP.  Don't forget to add a few lines of "ground" at the bottom so she's not floating on your card.  Glue a second label to this colored label.

Take the window sheet (that has been folded in half and creased with your bone folder) and adhere it to the back side of this label using a strong adhesive like Tear and Tape or Seal +.  Position it so that the fold is centered and sticks out a very small amount above the top (see the photo on the left).  Add one more label, turning it over so that it covers the acetate and has the "nice" side showing.

Stamp your sentiment to the remaining label and decorate with flowers cut from the Highland Heather scrap.  Sandwich this label with the others that have been glued together and add Tear and Tape to the acetate piece so that it can stick to the back of of the stack.  Add glue to the stack (now your flip front panel) and position it on the front of your card panel as shown.

Stamp your Hey, girlfriend sentiment onto the white cardstock that remains after cutting your labels and trim to size.  Mat this with Gorgeous Grape and pop it up with dimensionals in the bottom center of your card front.

This flip front idea can be used with many die cut shapes.  If your shape is large enough, you don't have to have a panel on the back.  In my heart card, I added the flip front to a card instead of a quarter panel - it's really up to you.  The one thing I learned is that the acetate window sheet needs to stick out just a little bit to accommodate the thickness of the four labels stuck together.  Have fun!
